Rally to Save the Stanford Foothills

On Tuesday, January 25, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will meet to discuss Stanford University's controversial 10-year development plan. The plan calls for more than four million square feet of development over the next 10 years, increasing the size of the campus by 35% (the equivalent of three new Stanford Shopping Centers). Stanford's plan also includes extending the core campus southwest of Junipero Serrra Blvd., allowing development in the foothills.

To draw attention to this important meeting, members of the Stanford Open Space Alliance, Bay Area Action, the Committee for Green Foothills and Mid-Peninsula Action for Tomorrow will hold a rally at the intersection of Page Mill Road and Junipero Serra Blvd. on Monday morning, January 24 at 7:00am. The groups are calling for permanent protection of the Stanford Foothills in exchange for such a massive amount of development in such a short period of time.

The groups are also organizing carpools to Tuesday night's meeting that will leave from the Peninsula Conservation Center (3921 E. Bayshore Rd. in Palo Alto) at 5:45pm on January 25. For more information, people can call the Stanford Open Space Alliance at (650) 223-3333.
